History

1999–2000 The investment fund Broadhurst Investments, Ltd., administered in Romania by New Century Holdings (NCH), purchased three milling and bakery companies: Mopariv Valcea, Berceni Bucharest and Granpan Tecuci. In 2000, Mopariv Valcea purchased Panegro Cluj.

 

 
2001. In December 2001, S.C. Vel Pitar S.A. was created through a merger of two milling and bakery factories. The registered office of the new company was established in Ramnicu Valcea.

 

 
2002–2006. Vel Pitar S.A. expanded through the purchase of several new companies: Spicul Arges Pitesti (2002), Pangran Iasi and Grojpan Targu Jiu (2003), and a factory in Bals city, which was then assigned to Ramnicu Valcea headquarters (2004). 2005 marked a further expansion when the group merged with the companies Postavarul Brasov and Panem Giurgiu.

 

 
2007. The company Vel Pitar was divided into three autonomous companies. Their activities are baking, S.C. Vel Pitar S.A.; milling, S.C. Sapte Spice S.A.; and retail, S.C. VP Magassin S.A. In early 2007, the Vel Pitar Group extended the factory network in Dambovita county to the city of Targoviste.
