VEL PITAR Group

The Vel Pitar Group is the leader of the Romanian bakery market and an important player within the field of the manufacturing and distribution of biscuits, wafers, cake specialties, pastry and milling products.

The story of the group began when the investment fund Broadhurst Investments Limited, administrated in Romania by New Century Holdings (NCH), purchased two large companies from milling and bakery industry, Mopariv Ramnicu Valcea and Berceni Bucharest. In December 2001 there is incorporated S.C. Vel Pitar S.A., by the merger of four factories from the grist and panification industry: Mopariv Ramnicu Valcea, Berceni Bucharest, Mopariv Cluj Napoca andGranpan Tecuci. The registered office of the new company was established in Ramnicu Valcea.

2007 represented the road to a new type of organization. The Vel Pitar S.A. Company has been divided in three autonomous companies having as object of activity the bakery - S.C. Vel Pitar S.A, milling - S.C. Sapte Spice S.A. and the retail - S.C. VP Magassin S.A. These companies have continuously developed in the last three years, thus they currently meet the conditions necessary for an autonomous operation. Through the process of division, the new companies are able to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the market in their fields, by managing the resources better and directly using the incomes obtained.

The investment fund Broadhurst Investments Ltd., administrated in Romania by the company New Century Holdings (NCH), is holding around 80% of all the three companies resulted after the division.

Now The Vel Pitar Group owns production units in Bucharest and in other 10 Romanian counties (Valcea, Arges, Brasov, Cluj, Galati, Iasi, Giurgiu, Gorj, Olt and Dambovita), milling units and a network of shops spread in the large Romanian cities.

The Vel Pitar Group changed the way business was made in Romania in milling and bakery industry. We are the first who have massively invested in modern, innovating technologies, in order to be able to offer our clients the best quality product. The Vel Pitar group is the absolute leader from all the points of view: dimension, geographic coverage, turnover, profit level, number of clients, level of implementation of modern technologies and the implementation of European law norms.

In its effort to offer to the consumer the desired products, Vel Pitar acknowledges the importance of the local specifics in adding extra value to its products, thus each of the production units of the group is market leader and is standing out with one or several products, benefiting from the concept developed on national level.

Vel Pitar Group in numbers: 12 bakery units, 5 milling units, an own network of 157 outlets in the largest Romanian cities, national coverage, 4.600 employees, over 2 millions of clients daily. Every month, in average, around 10,000 tones of panification products, 300 tones of biscuits and wafers and 14,000 tones of milling products are manufactured.
