Opening Doors to the Future, Edition 2008

Vel Pitar, through the educational program "Opening Doors to the Future" is offering to the children all over the country the chance to see how the bread is produced, how a factory is showing and to find out which are the conditions a "baker" must respect because what we eat to be healthy and feeding.

 

The program is addressing to the pupils with ages between 8 and 12, respectively to the pupils following primary and gymnasium courses (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades) within the general schools or of the high-schools having courses for the mentioned study years.

 

The educational program "Opening Doors to the Future" is developed in 10 Vel Pitar factories (two in Bucharest, Ramnicu Valcea, Iasi, Tecuci, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Pitesti, Tg. Jiu, Giurgiu).

 

The educational program is centered on the visiting of the production spaces, on discussion sessions, the development of working shops regarding the healthy food and the consumers' rights. During the visit, a production specialist is explaining to the pupils, accompanied by the teachers, the bread flow, the importance of the hygiene and of the clearance in the sections, rules that Vel Pitar specialists must respect for the bread to be produced in the safest conditions, the basic elements regarding the nutrition and regarding the panification products.

At the end of these activities, the children have been invited to participate to a drawn poster competition, inspired from the experience lived during the visit. The most beautiful ones are awarded with sweet products and promotional Vel Pitar objects, and the great prize is represented by a two-day trip in a tourist resort from Romania.

 

The winners of the competition organized in each city in which visits take place, are announced on the "Child's Day" - on the 1st of June.

 

Vel Pitar has initiated this educational program as a result of the needs the communities where the activity of the working points is developed. Vel Pitar is thinking in the value and the potential the children and the young from Romania are having and wants to help them understand better the world they are living into, to be prepared when they grow up to take the best decisions for them and for the society they are living in.
