Share with us! It's more than a slice of bread!

On July 3, 2009, Vel Pitar launched the public campaign "Share with us! It's more than a slice of bread!" With the help we get from our customers, for each specialty bread (300 g) sold, Vel Pitar donates a slice of bread to the needy in Bucharest.  Any customer who buys a specialty bread can visit www.imparte.ro, enter the code from the sticker placed on the bread package, and then choose the institution to which to direct the donation: a drop-in center, care center or social canteen.

Three institutions in Bucharest participate in our campaign: the Robin Hood Center, the Social Care and Assistance Center for Elders No. 1, and the Social Canteen coordinated by the Sfantul Stelian Association.

The Robin Hood Center has a capacity of 60 spaces and shelters children from 4 to 18 years of age. It provides drop-in facilities for children – shelter, health care and education – offering them support and realistic opportunities for (re)integrating with the community, both on family and professional levels.

The Social Care and Assistance Center for Elders No. 1 now shelters 92 elderly. The center provides medical and social services for individuals aged over 50 years. Most residents have records of geriatric polypathology and multiple disabilities.

The Social Canteen coordinated by the Sfantul Stelian Association is a 70-person facility offering nutritional support to range of needy individuals, ranging from homeless children to elderly persons who lack the financial means to support themselves or are in need of a home or family substitute.

Vel Pitar is developing this social responsibility campaign to help solve the difficulties encountered by our community. We believe strongly in the strength and potential of Romanian society and are actively working to offer a decent life and a better future to all those in need.
