The bread stores remain a succesful business
Piata Magazine - 2008-03-27
Although hypermarkets and supermarkets developed their portfolio of bakery products and even bread ovens, still the bakeries remain the main source of supply with bread.
The specialized stores that commercialize bread will always have success, because bread is an ailment that will never lack on the Romanians' table. The first jobs related to nutrition refer to bread. "The baking" is the first pursuit related to the food preparation and is gathered documentary evidence as a special job from 1346. Several years later, the bakers form in a guild and from the 15th century the twisted rolls bakers, who were selling white bread in Alba square, also appear. Formed in guilds, the craftsmen took counsel with others, and even competed in preparing the best bread recipes. The situation developed in the meantime, and now the competitors of the bakeries are the supermarkets and hypermarkets which bake the bread in special ovens and sell it warm...
40% of the store's shopping represents the bread
Now, the specialized bread stores also centre round the pastry products, which are baked inside the unit.... Extending the range and the arrangement of a place with tables, intended to the fast consumption of pastry products, coffee, tea or juices makes part of the dealers' strategy of keeping their customers long time inside the store. In spite all of these, the sales engine is still represented by bread.
"In Bucharest, in the south area and centre we have five specialized stores where a serving area is arranged when the customers can taste our products", the VP Magassin national manager Dragos Serb declared. In the Vel Pitar trading network there are 145 stores in towns from the entire country: Bucharest, Ramnicu Valcea, Iasi, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Targu Jiu, Pitesti, Giurgiu, Tecuci, with a medium area of 40 square meters.
Vel Pitar also trades different bakery specialties: croissants, bagels, pretzel, long-life category products - sliced and packed bread, French Toast Panissimo, jam rolls and mini jam rolls with different fillings, biscuits, wafers, packed biscuits, frozen pastry, grocery category products, dairy produce, cooling drinks, alcoholic drinks, sweets, coffee, cigarettes. The in-store bakery concept developed in five of the Vel Pitar specialized stores allows baking the products inside the store and serving them new.
Vel Pitar moves the factories outside Bucharest
Ziarul Financiar - 2008-02-29
The Broadhurst Investment Fund, which owns the Vel Pitar bakery producer, decided to relocate the factories and the mill from Bucharest outside the town, in the south area of the capital. Vel Pitar's decision comes in a situation when another great bread producer in Bucharest, Lujerul Bucuresti, wants to sell a piece of land of 3,6 hectares, placed nearby the Plaza Romania, on which it may receive €60 million.
According to the information on the company's site, Vel Pitar, that makes businesses of over €130 million yearly, owns in Bucharest a mill placed in the Rahova district and two factories in the Berceni and Rahova neighbourhoods, having an area of 48.424 square meters. The Vel Pitar representatives didn't want to offer any details concerning the area in Bucharest or a possible selling of these lands.
"We have a land in the south side of Bucharest, the mill being the first building that will be relocated", the Vel Pitar president of the administration council, George Frincu, declared.
The relocation will start in the second half of this year and will finish at the end of 2009, the latest at the beginning of 2010, for this activity the Vel Pitar representatives orienting a great deal of the investments planed in this period of €5,5 million.
This is not the first factory that the producer decided to move outside the town, Vel Pitar relocating last year the factory from Cluj, too.
"We do not intend to realize other relocations. There are also factories inside the towns, but they are placed on industrial platforms or nearby some office headquarters, not nearby a residential district as those in Bucharest are", Frincu added. Last year Dobrogea Group moved the factory from Constanta outside the town and the Titan producer owned by the Hungarians from LLI sold a land on which they received over €1 million.
The main bakery producer, Vel Pitar, has another executive manager
Ziarul financiar - 2008-02-28

In official news of the Vel Pitar Company, after Serbanescu appointing at the Vel Pitar management, the previous position occupied by the latter, that of executive manager at the activity place from Ramnicu Valcea, is occupied by Valentin Jercaianu, starting with February the 1st.

As a consequence of the division, the Sapte Spice Company is the firm that realizes the milling activity, Vel Pitar the bakery activity, and VP Magassin manages the stores. The most Romanian modern mill carries on its activity at Bujoreni. Vel Pitar is really „the first baker" in Ramnicu Valcea, proved by the following ones: 9 of 10 Valcea people regularly buy this company's products.

On August last year the investments begun in the milling sphere were ended, and at present we have at Ramnicu Valcea (Bujoreni) the most modern mill in Romania, a mill with a superior production capacity from the quality point of view in contrast to those existed on the actual market. The bakery sphere also benefited by investments in new production lines, what brought an increase of the developed quantities by Vel Pitar on the market from Valcea and meeting the customers' requirements of quality products.
2. What kind of projects do you have in mind? Could you give us some details?
Both the factory and the auto park are in a continuous process of modernization, so that our products should be the best ones on the market, delivered on time and in the best conditions to our customers. The bakery investments, centered especially round providing of the alimentary security and of the products' quality, brought a quality increase, uniformity of the production process, verified in all its stages.
Another important project for Vel Pitar Ramnicu Valcea represents strengthening the special relationship we have with our customers. We are close to them, delivering on time so that they should always have new bread on sale. The special care for our customers determines us to act fast at their smallest need, implicate in their business increase, supplying quality products that should satisfy the customers completely.
